About Horsham

Horsham District is located between London and the south coast and covers 200 square miles of West Sussex countryside within which are many attractive towns and villages.

The southern edge of the district sits within the South Downs National Park and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty extends eastward from the edge of Horsham town. London is under an hour away by train whilst Brighton and Portsmouth are both within an hour’s travelling time. Gatwick Airport is less than half an hour away.

Over 135,000 people live in the Horsham District, with just over 45,000 in Horsham town. Horsham is the principal settlement and commercial centre of the District and has an attractive and vibrant centre that combines a delightful historic core with a growing range of modern retail and leisure facilities.

Billingshurst, Henfield, Pulborough, Steyning and Storrington are also important population centres and there are many other attractive villages and hamlets within our 32 parishes.

Our location, outstanding working and living environment, high educational attainment, low unemployment and crime rates amongst the lowest in the country, makes our district an excellent location for people to live, visit and invest.
